PGA TOUR's Viking Classic is a very well recognized Golf tournament that this time is going to be held at the Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Mississippi. This year the tournament is scheduled to start from Sep. 30 until Oct. 03. |
MacKenzie who is the actual defender of the title of this competition, collected $648,000 with the win, moving from No. 178 on the money list all the way to No. 97, with $883,997 so far this year. The win is worth a two-year exemption on the PGA TOUR. Viking Range Corporation also awarded him a complete Viking indoor and outdoor kitchen for winning the Viking Classic.

The Viking Classic is a golf match contested biennially between USA and Europe and was first staged in 1927. It is now considered to be the third biggest sporting event in the world. In 2006 the Cup was played at the K Club in Ireland and in 2008 it will be taken to Valhalla Golf Club, Louisville, Kentucky before it's Wales' turn to shine in the spotlight!
Many of the world's best golfers will visit Mississippi to play in the PGA TOUR's Viking Classic held at Jack Nicklaus-designed Annandale Country Club. Will MacKenzie is the defending champion and many other stars will also participate including David Toms, Rocco Mediate, Tim Clark, John Daly, Charles Howell III, Rich Beem, David Duval, Nick O'Hern, Vaughn Taylor, Alex Cjeka, and Mississippi native and 2009 FedEx Cup event winner Heath Slocum.

"The courses in our great state are consistently honored with 'best-of' awards including Annandale Country Club. The Viking Classic is an excellent way for us to showcase Mississippi through our courses and the game's great players."
