AT&T National PGA Championship

The AT&T National PGA Championship is one of the most famous and well known golf championships because it normally takes place around the 4th of July. This time the professional golf is returning to the nation's capital due to a collaboration between the PGA TOUR and the Tiger Woods Foundation. This time is going to be held at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland starting the 30th of June and ending the 5th of July.

Lucas Glover, fresh off his win at the rain-soaked 109th U.S. Open, has committed to play in the 2009 AT&T National. Is evident that Glover is the favorite to win this tournament, even because Woods got back to the sixth place in the last championship.

If Glover joins in the field we will have an interesting tournament in which we are going to have Woods, who finished the Open tied for 6th, and 2008 AT&T National Defending Champion Anthony Kim, who tied for 16th on the unforgiving Bethpage Black Course.

If we look at the records, we can see that there is no tendency for a specific winner. For example, in 2005 in the Booz Allen tournament, Sergio Garcia was the winner with 270 points while in 2007 at the AT&T National, K.J. Choi was the winner with a total of 271 points while in 2008 was Anthony Kim  with a total of 268 whi by the way is the second favorite to win this time.

The schedule looks interesting and is well organized as well. The action actually starts in Thursday July the 2nd and ends in Sunday July the 5th. The broadcast Schedule is only available for the days in which the action championship takes place and it goes like follows:

Results:

The AT&T National 2009 Tournament has the name of Tiger Woods in the winner’s list. Once again Tiger Woods wins a PGA Tour competition, making this one the third one he wins during the year and his 68th PGA Tour victory. With 267 points in total Woods headed the first place, followed by Hunter Mahan with a total of 268 in the second place and Anthony Kim with a total of 271 points in the third place. No doubt this championship was one of the most exciting ones in the history.
